Night Tree Activity

In the spirit of giving, we will read Night Tree by Eve Bunting. It is about a family whose holiday tradition is to decorate an evergreen tree in the forest for the animals that live there. We would like to do the same and give to the animals that live near our school. We will be decorating our evergreen trees at the front of the school on Wednesday, December 19th or Thursday, December 20th. We will be making and then hanging decorations on the evergreen trees, singing some songs, and heading back in to school.

If you are able to donate an item below, please send in with your child on Wednesday or Thursday morning!

 We are in need of:

1.       popcorn

2.       stringable cereal (cheerios, etc.)

3.       cranberries or raisins

4.       bread crumbs

5.       stale bread

6.     plain rice cakes

Thanks in advance for making this a successful event!

"Kind"ness in "Kind"ergarten

Did you know that November is Random Acts of Kindness month? In "kind"ergarten we have been practising showing kindness to others and being a good friend. Look below to find out how!

Playing a "web" game... we shared all our ideas about how we can do kind
things for each other... and it all started with "One Smile"!

Playing games "together" with friends... we received a new classroom gift
called "Candyland"... we are learning to take turns and
have fun playing games with our friends.

Playing fun, familiar games like "ball" too!

Playing musical instruments "together" to make
a classroom band.

Playing "together" with friends to make beautiful music.

Exploring "together" with shaving cream and cornstarch
to create/mold structures!

Being a kind friend to the earth by recycling water bottles
into our "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" letter bottles.

Being a kind friend to each other by teaching friends
how to make masks and crafts.

Most importantly, we are learning that
"Whoever you are... Wherever you are"
in the world or at Tecumseh Vista...
 "Together... We are better!"

October was a fun-filled month that included learning about fall and the life cycle of a pumpkin.  Our trip to the pumpkin patch and our special ‘Fall Fun’ activity day was enjoyed by all. Special thanks to all of the parents who chaperoned for our field trip and volunteered to assist with our activity centres. Highlights for our fall theme day included all the students dressing up in costumes or black and orange, face painting, pound  the pumpkin activity (hammer nails/tees into the pumpkin), pin the nose on the pumpkin, fall necklaces and painting ‘pumpkin’ people. Special thanks to Mrs. Sturm (Jayden’s mom), Mr. Janisse (Julian’s dad), Mrs. Vanderwerf (Ethan’s mom), Mrs. Dupuis (Jessica’s mom), Emily and Emilie (grade 7 students) and Mrs. Lassie (Mrs. Mathers’ mom!!) for their great help to make our activity day a great success!

Welcome to Kindergarten Mathers

Greetings from Mrs. Mathers in Kindergarten!

Welcome to Kindergarten at Tecumseh Vista Academy! I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to my class and the early years program at TVA. At TVA, our goal in kindergarten is to ensure that each child has a positive, welcoming environment filled with wonderful opportunities. Your son or daughter will enjoy the fun-filled play environment that is rich with new, hands-on experiences. Your child will be provided with the challenge of first hand investigation and the experience of a variety of centres in the classroom. On a very important note, your child will develop tools for life to become a responsible, caring and kind individual. It is my goal to provide a happy, safe and positive environment where your child develops to his/her best ability.
