Look at What's Been Happening in JK/SK:

We love learning about Penguins. One of our
friends read us his penguin book. We learned very quickly that the daddy Emperor penguin is very careful when he takes care of the baby egg... if not, it cracks and makes a big mess! We've also been reading other books about penguins and putting on puppet shows, dressing up and acting like penguins, making penguin hats and we celebrated Penguin Day by playing Penguin Musical Chairs and making slushies... Mmm! Mmm!

We had our own Penguin Rescue at Tecumseh Vista. After reading a story about penguins that were rescued by people after an oil spill, we created our own Feather Penguin Rescue at school.
We are happy to say that our penguins are cleaned and ready to go swimming again!

We have been learning about shapes, reading, letters, sounds and magnets. We are building and creating awesome inventions. There's always so much to see and do. Did you know that we can even practise making letters with our bodies?! (look above to check out the bottom picture on the left)

We had lots of fun making dough, turning dough into alphabet letters and painting them with Miss Allie.

Miss Allie is our awesome co-op student who comes to help us every morning at school. She loves our class so much that she's going to do another co-op placement with us next semester. She's going to be in our class for the whole year. We are so lucky to have her help us in our class and we love having her come visit us everyday!

After reading several Barbara Reid stories
and learning about the pictures she creates using plasticine, we created our own beautiful pictures/scenes. We hope you can stop by our classroom to see our display of our amazing plasticine creations.

Happy New Year and Welcome 2015!

We hope everyone had a wonderful and restful holiday. We wish you all the very best in the new year and we are looking forward to bringing in 2015 with many valuable, fun and enriching activities in our kindergarten classroom.

To start our new year, we have opened up our new Vista Pet Shop (results from our class survey that one of our friends initiated and made for our students determined that a Pet Shop was the most popular centre). So, we completed many activities this week to open up our new store.

Not only are we learning about
numbers, counting, money, patterns, writing
and so on while making collars, leashes, food,
price tags and other things for our store,
we are also learning about love, being kind
and doing good things for others.

We also created many types of
designs using our pattern blocks,
and we made lists of things
we needed for our pet store.

We explored with our snow/igloo table,
learned about penguins and their homes
at the water table and made cool creations.
There's always so much fun and great
inventions happening! One of our friends made
a measuring stick almost as tall as the ceiling.

Santa Visit:
We are looking forward to Santa's arrival to Tecumseh Vista to visit our class at 9:30. Please arrive by this time. Your child is invited to wear red and/or green. We are looking forward to a fun and memorable morning to share with you. See you then!

Since we didn't have any snow to play with outdoors...
Miss Allie brought in a special activity so we could
play with the snow indoors.

The very talented secondary band performed for us.

Also, please encourage your child to become independent when putting on and taking off their winter clothing so that they can be independent at school.
